Advocate Dali Mpofu SC holds an B. Proc and LLB from the University of Witwatersrand, a Certificate in Finance and Accounting from the Wits Business School.

A former SABC Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO). Began his career in 1987 as a candidate attorney at Kathleen Satchwell Attorneys, moved to work for the ANC as Deputy Head for the Social Welfare Department.

Adv Bongiwe Khumalo-Tshokwe is an LLB graduate and Golden Key International Honour Society member from the University of the Witwatersrand and an alumnus of Rhodes university wherein she obtained her Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSocSci) double majoring in Political and International Studies as well as Legal Theory. As a candidate attorney at the State Attorney in Johannesburg, she gained expertise in Unlawful Arrest and Detention matters as well as Malicious Prosecution and Medical Negligence. Adv Matlhape holds a BA (Law) and LLB Degree from the University of UKZN.

Adv Matlhape started her career as a Public Defender at the office of the Legal Aid Board in 1997. She then practiced as an attorney for her own practice until 2002 when she joined the State as a Public Prosecutor. Adv Matlhape was appointed a Magistrate in 2004, the position she held until 2014. She was admitted as an advocate in 2015 at the Pretoria Society of advocates and joined PABASA in 2019. She is currently at PABASA Sandton Chambers.

Siphelo holds an LLB and LLM (Constitutional & Human Rights Laws Litigation) from the universities of Fort Hare and UKZN respectively. He was part of the inaugural PABASA pupilage program and did his pupilage under the tutelage of Adv Nasreen Rajab-Budlender in 2020, he got admitted as an Advocate in October of the same year. Before being called to the Bar he clerked at the Constitutional Court (Madlanga J), a period he describes as “the time of my life”. Swelihle holds LL.B (cum laude) from University of Zululand and LL.M (Tax Law) from University of Pretoria. He has worked at SARS, clerked at the Constitutional Court for (as he then was) Deputy Chief Justice Zondo and Justice Theron than later joined the State Capture Commission as a Researcher to the Chairperson of the Commission before joining Puis Langa School of Advocacy in 2021. He was admitted as an Advocate in August 2019 and called to the Bar in 2022. Thabiso Mhlanga (Mr Mhlanga) was admitted as an attorney in 2015. During his tenure as an attorney, he was involved in numerous litigation matters, which propelled him to undertake the PABASA pupilage program in 2021 and was accordingly admitted as an advocate in the same year.

Katlego Monareng is a general practitioner with keen interest in competition law, environmental law, constitutional law, administrative law and general regulatory law. Katlego commenced his career in competition law with the Competition Commission of South Africa in 2009.

Katlego holds an LLM and a certificate in competition law.

Nkomotana began his career as a Practicing Attorney with Mankoe Incorporated in 2000, representing clients in both the public and private sectors. He moved on to the Department of Health as Senior Manager: Procurement, where he was responsible for overall strategic management, and compliance with the PFMA and other relevant legislation.

Nkomotana then served as Company Secretary and Legal Advisor to the Polokwane International Airport, Municipal Manager of the Waterberg District, and as Acting Senior General Manager in the Policy and Planning Coordination Unit in the Office of the Premier.

In 2009 he became Head of the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs in Limpopo Province, responsible for the strategic leadership of 30 municipalities, and the Headmen, Senior Traditional Leaders and Kings in the province.

He progressed to become MEC responsible for this department and later an MP in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature. Nkomotana served on the SABC Board from 2010 to 2011. In 2014, he focussed again on the legal sector, serving his pupillage with the Johannesburg Bar of Advocates until his admission to the Bar. He currently practices as an Advocate with the Duma Nokwe Group of Advocates.

Nkosilathi holds both an LLB and LLM from the University of the Witwatersrand. Prior to being called to the bar, Nkosilathi served his articles of clerkship at a firm specializing in employment, local government and administrative law. Fumisa Ngqele was admitted to the Bar in December 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree and an LLB degree from the University of Cape Town. She is currently studying towards her LLM degree specialising in Dispute Resolution.

Fumisa is a qualified mediator and was trained as a Peace Builder by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

She worked as a Legal Advisor for Advocate Dumisa Ntsebeza SC who was appointed as Cricket South Africa’s Transformation Ombudsman for its Social Justice and Nation-Building Project.

The UCT Law Faculty recognised and acknowledged Fumisa Ngqele alongside Advocate Cissie Gool and Justice Kate O’Regan as one of its star women graduates.

Advocate Isaac Shai holds a BA (Wits University), LLB (Wits University), LLM (UNISA), LLD (Pretoria University) and a certificate in legislative drafting (University of Pretoria). He is a former Associate Professor at UNISA and is currently a research fellow at the University of Free State. His current research projects include legal culture and legal reasoning in South Africa, law and race/racism and constitutionalism and transformation in South Africa.

Adv Mpilo Sikhakhane holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand. Mpilo commenced with his articles at then Bell Dewar before ceding same to Mchunu Attorneys where he started formal legal practice as an attorney in 2011. He moved up the ranks from being an associate to the position of junior director. Mpilo then left being an attorney and did pupillage in 2015 with the Johannesburg Society of Advocates and thereafter formally joined the bar in December 2015.
